A lot of what you learn comes from the mistakes. You learn the why behind it, not just that something was wrong. I try to teach my kids that it's not a mistake if you learn from it, it's a lesson. My oldest really doesn't want to make mistakes, and I tell her: you're going to make them. But it's a lesson if you learn from it. So let's talk through what you learned. I make mistakes every day, and it's hard. Fail fast is tough advice to hear because no one wants to fail. But I think it's taking that and asking what you learned from it, and how you can apply it.

I had the gratitude of someone taking a chance on me. I had zero HubSpot experience when I got into this. I just knew I liked challenges and figuring stuff out. Now I've found my thing. I love this, and it's become my career. But none of that happens without that person taking a risk on me and giving me the space to make some mistakes. Do people still have that space and permission now, with efficiency and billable time and getting things done within a certain timeframe? We have to be an environment that doesn't expect perfection out of everyone.

I have to quote Mean Girls once a day: the limit does not exist. The rules that used to work in career and life are changing in real time, and we're having to change and adapt right along with them. My own personal unbound is starting freelancing and fractional consulting this year. There's so much opportunity for people who love HubSpot and love solving problems with it, to make that work and still do what you love in your life. I'm grateful I've found this community, and I get to show up as the kind of person in it I want to be. At one point I had seven rescue dogs. I kept the mom, and instead of calling it a foster fail, it's a foster flourish. She got to stay.
